Relation to Beautiful Distress - From 9 June to 31 July 2022, theatre maker and visual artist Michael Bloos returned to the Beautiful Distress House and took the audience with him into his Universe of Madness. Frank Siera wrote the piece Poetic Licence that premiered during Over het IJ Festival. This performance was about madness and normality and everything in between - based on the extraordinary life of the British writer Joe Orton. 

About the artists - Bloos graduated from ArtEZ Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem in 2012. And in 2018 followed a Master of the Arts artistic research in Maastricht, Hogeschool Zuid. He is fascinated by the various constructions of reality that we as mankind have created.

Playwright Frank Siera graduated from the directing course of the Maastricht Theatre Academy in 2012. writes because being able to find the right words of complicated issues such as madness, mourning, grief, anger, insecurity, jealousy, doubt and confusion helps in processing them.

The text of Poetic Licence is part of Bloos' programme at Stichting Nieuwe Helden. Bloos is a 'new maker' at Nieuwe Helden, which means that he enters a two-year trajectory to develop as a theatre maker. After several collaborations, Poetic Licence was again a collaboration between Bloos and Siera. Siera wrote the text and under Bloos' direction the text was developed into a full theatrical performance.

Relatie tot Beautiful Distress - Van 9 juni t/m 31 juli 2022 keerde theatermaker en beeldend kunstenaar Michael Bloos terug naar het Beautiful Distress House en nam hij publiek mee in zijn Universum van de waanzin. Frank Siera schreef het stuk Poetic Licence dat tijdens Over het IJ Festival in première ging. Deze voorstelling ging over gekte en normaliteit en alles daartussenin - gebaseerd op het bijzondere leven van de Britse schrijver Joe Orton. 

About the artists - Bloos studeerde in 2012 af aan de ArtEZ Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem. En volgde in 2018 een Master of the Arts artistic research in Maastricht, Hogeschool Zuid. Hij is gefascineerd door de verschillende constructen van de werkelijkheid die wij als mensheid hebben opgeworpen.

Toneelschrijver Frank Siera studeerde in 2012 af aan de regie-opleiding van de toneelacademie Maastricht. schrijft omdat het kunnen vinden van de juiste woorden van ingewikkelde zaken als gekte, rouw, verdriet, woede, onzekerheid, jaloezie, twijfel en verwarring helpt bij het verwerken hiervan.

De tekst van Poetic Licence is onderdeel van het traject van Bloos bij Stichting Nieuwe Helden. Bloos is bij Nieuwe Helden 'nieuwe maker', wat betekent dat hij een traject van twee jaar ingaat om zich als theatermaker te ontwikkelen. Na meerdere samenwerkingen was Poetic Licence opnieuw een samenwerking tussen Bloos en Siera. Siera schreef de tekst en onder regie van Bloos werd de tekst ontwikkeld tot een volledige theathervoorstelling.
