Beautiful Distress was founded on the concept that there is a great deal of mental suffering, that not enough people are aware of this and that not enough is done to stop it.

The Foundation uses art in an attempt to open up the world of psychiatry and battle the stigma attached to it.

Why art? Beautiful Distress believes that art is pre-eminently capable of articulating and depicting the human condition

De tentoonstelling Jan Hoek Mental Superpowers in het Beautiful Distress House liep t/m 7 oktober j.l 

Wel is de tentoonstelling nog te zien bij psychiatrisch centrum Mentrum, gevestigd in het centrum van Amsterdam, en wordt daar gecombineerd met rondleidingen door voormalig patiënten en/of medewerkers die je door de tentoonstelling leiden terwijl ze praten over hun de onderwerpen die in het werk worden genoemd.

Rondleidingen van 21 september - 20 november elke maandag woensdag en vrijdag om 15.30 uur.
